MAHLE OX 153D3 ECO Engine Oil Filter — Sprinter 2.7L Diesel (T1N)
Doing an oil change on a first-generation (T1N) Sprinter van? The MAHLE ORIGINAL OX 153D3 ECO is the cartridge-style oil filter for the 2.7L inline-5 turbodiesel used in 2003–2006 Dodge and Freightliner Sprinter 2500/3500 vans (OM647 engine; early T1N vans ran the OM612).
MAHLE is a major OE supplier to Mercedes-Benz, and the ECO series is a metal-free filter insert: only the filter element gets replaced at each service, and the used element can be fully incinerated — less waste than a spin-on can. A fresh filter at every oil change protects the turbodiesel from pressure loss and abrasive wear.

Why Replace On Schedule
- Replace at every oil change — cartridge filters are not designed to run double intervals
- A clogged filter causes oil pressure drop and accelerated wear in a turbodiesel
- Dirty oil and soot loading are normal in diesel service — the filter is the engine's main defense
Product Highlights
- ✔ MAHLE ORIGINAL — OE-quality filtration from a major Mercedes-Benz OE supplier
- ✔ Metal-free ECO cartridge: the used element is fully incinerable, cutting service waste
- ✔ Embossed, pleated filter media for reliable dirt holding over the full service interval
- ✔ Correct insert for the OM647 (and earlier OM612) 2.7L inline-5 turbodiesel
- ✔ Cartridge design — replace only the element, not a metal can
Condition
New
Product Type
Engine Oil Filter — cartridge (insert) type, metal-free ECO
Function
The filter insert sits in the engine's oil filter housing and traps soot, wear particles, and debris circulating in the engine oil. At each service the old element is lifted out with the housing cap and a new insert is dropped in — no oily metal canister to dispose of.

FAQ
Will this fit my Sprinter?
It fits 2003–2006 Dodge and Freightliner Sprinter 2500/3500 vans with the 2.7L I5 turbodiesel. Verify with your VIN before ordering.
Does it replace MANN HU718/1k or WIX 57038?
Yes. The OX 153D3 ECO is the MAHLE equivalent of MANN HU718/1k, WIX 57038, Hengst E11HD57, Fram CH9301, and the other verified cross references listed above.
How much oil does a T1N Sprinter take, and what do I need for the job?
The 2.7L T1N takes about 7.4 quarts with a filter change. The filter housing cap takes a 76 mm, 14-flute cap wrench, and Mercedes specifies MB 229.5 oil (commonly 5W-40).
What does "ECO" and "metal-free" mean?
The insert contains no metal parts, so the used, oil-soaked element can be fully incinerated instead of going to landfill — and you only ever replace the element, not a steel canister.
Is this the filter for the 3.0L V6 diesel Sprinter (2007+)?
No. The 3.0L V6 (OM642) uses a different filter family. This insert is for the 2.7L inline-5 T1N engines only.
