Genuine Ford AA5Z-19E616-C HVAC Blend Door (Temperature) Actuator
Hearing a rapid clicking or ticking noise behind the glove box when you start the car or change the temperature? Air blowing hot when you ask for cold — or stuck on one temperature no matter what you set? On the Ford Explorer, Taurus, Flex, and their Lincoln siblings, that is the classic sign of a failed blend door actuator.
The genuine Ford AA5Z-19E616-C is the HVAC blend door (temperature) actuator — the small electric motor that moves the door mixing hot and cold air inside the heater box. Ford's catalog lists it as a "Motor Assembly / Door Actuator," and some listings call it an "A/C Motor Assembly," but note: this is not the blower (fan) motor. It is the temperature door actuator, located behind the glove box on top of the HVAC housing, held by 3 screws.

Product Type
HVAC Blend Door (Temperature) Actuator
Function
The blend door actuator is an electric rotary motor that positions the temperature blend door inside the HVAC housing, controlling the mix of heated and cooled air delivered to the vents. When the actuator's internal gears wear or strip, it clicks against the stop and the system loses control of air temperature. Replacing the actuator restores normal temperature control.

FAQ
Is this the blower (fan) motor?
No. Despite the catalog name "A/C Motor Assembly," this is the blend door actuator — the small motor that controls air temperature, not the fan that blows air. If your fan does not spin, you need a blower motor instead.
My old part is stamped 8G1Z-19E616-B or AA5Z-19E616-B — is this the right one?
Yes. AA5Z-19E616-C is Ford's current replacement for 8G1Z-19E616-B, 8G1Z-19E616-C, and AA5Z-19E616-B.
Will this fix the clicking noise behind my glove box?
A stripped blend door actuator is the classic cause of that clicking/ticking on Explorer, Taurus, and Flex. If the noise comes from that area and temperature control misbehaves, this actuator is the common repair.
Is this the same as Motorcraft YH-1779?
Yes. YH-1779 is the Motorcraft-brand packaging of the same Ford unit.
How hard is the installation?
It sits behind the glove box on top of the heater box, held by 3 screws. A typical DIY job takes 1–2 hours with basic hand tools.
