Bosch 0261545071 High Pressure Fuel Rail Sensor for BMW
Is your BMW misfiring, stumbling on acceleration, hard to start, or dropping into limp mode with the check engine light on? On direct-injection BMW gasoline engines, a failing high-pressure fuel rail sensor is a common culprit — some drivers also see an “Increased Emissions” message in iDrive.
The Bosch 0261545071 is the original-equipment high pressure fuel sensor used by BMW. It mounts at the end of the high-pressure fuel rail and reports rail pressure to the engine computer. Bosch is the OE supplier for this sensor — it is the same unit sold under BMW part number 13537620946.

Common Symptoms of a Failing Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor
- Engine misfires or stumbling under load
- Hard starting or extended cranking
- Rough or uneven idle
- Noticeable loss of power
- Limp mode, in severe cases up to engine shutdown
- Check engine light with a fuel-pressure fault code; possible “Increased Emissions” message in iDrive

Product Type
High Pressure Fuel Rail Sensor (fuel pressure sensor, high side)
Function
This sensor is installed at the end of the high-pressure fuel rail on BMW direct-injection gasoline engines. It continuously measures rail pressure and reports it to the engine control unit, which uses the signal to regulate the high-pressure fuel pump. When the sensor fails or drifts, the engine computer receives incorrect pressure readings — the result is misfiring, poor running and limp mode.
Compatible Vehicles
Fitment is by engine. This sensor fits BMW and MINI models from 2008–2021 equipped with the following engines:
| Engine | Typical Applications |
| B38 1.5L 3-cyl turbo | BMW i8, select 2/3 Series |
| N20 / N26 2.0L 4-cyl turbo | 1/2/3/4/5 Series, X1, X3, X4, Z4 |
| N54 / N55 3.0L 6-cyl turbo | 1/2/3/4/5/6/7 Series, X3, X4, X5, X6, Z4, M2 |
| N63 4.4L V8 turbo | 5/6/7 Series, X5, X6 |
| S55 3.0L 6-cyl turbo | M2 Competition, M3, M4 |
| S63 4.4L V8 turbo | M5, M6 |

FAQ
Will this fit my BMW?
Fitment is determined by engine: B38, N20/N26, N54/N55, N63, S55 and S63 engines from 2008–2021 use this sensor. Please verify with your VIN before ordering.
Is this the same part as BMW 13537620946?
Yes. Bosch is the original-equipment manufacturer of this sensor; the BMW-boxed part 13537620946 (earlier 13537584404) is the same Bosch unit.
What symptoms does a failed sensor cause?
Misfires, hard starting, rough idle, power loss and limp mode — almost always with a check engine light and a stored fault code.
Does it fit MINI?
Yes — MINI Cooper S 2014–2015. Verify by VIN.
Where is the sensor located?
At the end of the high-pressure fuel rail, with a 3-pin connector. See the installation video above for a typical N55 replacement.
